The Kalidonia waterfall is located in Pano Platres. It is included amongst the most charming, tallest waterfalls in Cyprus. To find thi fairytale place you must follow the uphill trail ”Psila Vouna” measuting 3km long and is classified as level 2 medium hiking experience. The waterfall was named after the ancient name of what is today, Scotland. What is told, after passing from the island the Scottish were impressed by the idyllic location which brough to mind their country, as a result they named it Kalidonia. The waterfalls at a speed of 13 meters play with the sunrays and create the ideal atmosphere of coolness and romanticism for whoever whishes to visit.

About 700m from the road between Troodos and Platres near the President’s summer residence. Also accessible via a forest road which begins at the tourist road 2 kms from the Square. Length: 3 km – Duration: 1.5 hours – Degree of difficulty: 3

Points of interest

The trail follows a course along Kryos Potamos river, which never runs dry. It passes the Kalidonia Falls and ends at Psilo Dendro, in Pano Platres.

Necessary Gear

1. Do not move outside the signs along the trail so that you can protect the rare plant types within the forested area.
2. Do not smoke and keep your food inside your backpacks. Protect the environmental treasure from unexpected fires.
3. Do not make unnecessary noise. Respect the natural world of the birds, the animals and enjoy the natural sounds.
4. Maintain the space clean. Leave your trash in the bins or choose to take them with you.
5. Spend the night in the visitors’ camp sites.
6. The entrance to vehicles within the path is not allowed.
7. Protect the natural beauty by avoiding cutting branches, bushes or unrooting plants and carving trees.
8. The lighting of fires in protected areas is strictly prohibited. Respect what is offered from nature and the camping site. Lighting fires is allowed ONLY in special barbecue sites.
